When you buy a fusion splicer and open the box, you'll find more than a dozen accessories, which can be confusing for beginners—what are all these things? Which ones are commonly used and which are spares? This article explains the function of each accessory in the standard 12-piece FA-36 kit, so beginners will know how to use it after reading it.

This goes without saying, it's the core equipment. The FA-36 main unit includes a 5200mAh battery and weighs 1.65KG. It's ready to use right out of the box, but it's recommended to fully charge it before first use. The battery is removable; if not in use for extended periods, remove it and store it separately.
AC100-240V input, DC10 to 13.5V output. Wide voltage design, compatible with any AC outlet. Can be used directly with power in the server room to save battery power. The adapter connector is a DC connector, plugged into the DC port on the side of the machine.
Electrode rods are consumables; the recommended lifespan for the FA-36 is 5000 cores. Keep spare electrode rods in the toolbox and replace them when needed; there's no need to purchase them on the fly. Remember to perform a discharge calibration after each replacement.
The FA-36 is a dedicated fiber optic cleaver, equipped with a P8 cleaver as standard. To use, place the fiber into the guide rail, press down the pressure plate, and quickly push the cleaver. The blade has multiple cutting points; if it becomes dull, you can rotate the blade. The required cutting length is 8 to 16 mm, depending on the requirements of the fusion splicer fixture.
Maintenance tips for P8 cutting blades: Regularly clean debris from the guide rails, regularly rotate the blade position, and replace the blade promptly when it becomes dull.
This is a tool used to strip the coating from optical fibers. The jaws have special slots; after gripping the coating, a strong pull will remove it. Control the force applied during stripping to avoid damaging the bare fiber. A stripping length of 30 to 40 mm is suitable.
Miller pliers will wear down over time, and if they don't peel cleanly, consider replacing them.
FT-2 is a tool for stripping the outer sheath of optical cables. During optical cable installation, first use stripping pliers to peel off the outer sheath to expose the loose tube or tight-buffered optical fiber inside, and then use Miller pliers to remove the coating layer of the optical fiber.
The FT-2 stripper has an adjustable jaw depth to accommodate optical cables of different diameters. Adjust the jaws according to the cable's outer diameter before stripping to avoid damaging the internal optical fibers.
A small brush is used to clean the V-groove of the fusion splicer. If dust or fiber debris gets into the V-groove, the fiber will not be placed evenly, affecting alignment accuracy. Use the cleaning brush to sweep the V-groove before each splice operation and during breaks.
Don't blow on the V-groove with your mouth, as saliva will corrode the metal surface and reduce the precision of the V-groove over time.
Use a squeeze bottle containing anhydrous alcohol and a lint-free cloth. After peeling off the coating, spray alcohol onto the lint-free cloth using the alcohol pump and wipe the surface of the bare fiber to remove any residue.
The alcohol pump has a good seal and does not easily evaporate. After use, tighten the cap to prevent alcohol evaporation.
For data export and firmware upgrades. The FA-36 supports a USB flash drive interface; simply plug in a USB flash drive to export fusion splicing data or update firmware. 10,000 sets of fusion splicing data are stored on the device; regular export and backup are recommended.
Remember to format your USB drive as FAT32; other formats may not be recognized.
The FA-36 welding machine comes with a shoulder strap for carrying the main unit. The machine weighs 1.65 kg, and the strap makes it convenient to carry during operation, especially in scenarios requiring mobile work such as manholes and utility poles. The strap is adjustable in length; simply find a suitable position and fasten it.
This is a simplified instruction manual, covering common operations and troubleshooting. It's recommended that beginners flip through it during their first few installations; it's more useful than reading the full manual. Once you're proficient, you'll generally not need to refer to it anymore.
Storage boxes for all accessories. The protective boxes are shockproof and drop-proof, allowing you to pack equipment and tools during construction and relocation without fear of damage during transport. After finishing work each day, simply put the tools away for easy access next time.

Frequently used tools require special attention to maintenance, especially cutting blades and cleaning brushes, as their condition directly affects the quality of construction.
Don't go straight to the construction site after getting the new machine; do a few things first:
1. Battery fully charged
2. Power on the device and check if the screen and all functions are working properly.
3. Perform a discharge calibration
4. Try splicing a few optical fibers to confirm that the loss is within the normal range.
5. Place the tools in the protective case according to your usage habits.
