I. Starting Point: Fiber Optic Fusion Splicing Tool

Fiber optic splicing is a fundamental operation in fiber optic installation and maintenance. Before splicing, the coating layer must be removed, and the tool used for this step is a fiber optic stripper (hot stripper). Although it's a hand tool, it requires considerable skill—the stripping of the coating layer must not damage the fiber cladding, otherwise the splicing loss will be significant. The FA1000 is a "wide-coverage" model in Nanjing VAEYI Technology's testing product line. It is positioned as a general-purpose installation and maintenance comprehensive testing product, featuring six-in-one integration, dual-mode operation, portability, and long battery life.

In terms of specifications, the FA1000A has a dynamic range of 30dB (1310nm), an event blind zone of 3m, an attenuation blind zone of 8m, and a range of 300m-120km. These specifications are sufficient for installation and maintenance scenarios—the goal is not to achieve laboratory-level accuracy, but rather to prioritize field practicality and efficiency.

The FA1000 is further subdivided into two models: the FA1000A is a 1310/1550nm dual-wavelength standard test model, suitable for acceptance testing of new links; the FA1000F is a 1625nm single-wavelength online test model, suitable for uninterrupted maintenance of existing service lines. These two models correspond to the "construction phase" and the "operation phase," with one product series covering the entire lifecycle of the link.

The FA1000's dual design of automatic and expert modes reflects the hierarchical nature of its product matrix: automatic mode lowers the barrier to entry, allowing more engineers to use OTDRs; expert mode retains refined operational capabilities, meeting the needs of experienced engineers. VAEYI has always adhered to the design principle of "adapting to users with different skill levels" in its product planning.

VI. Product Decision-Making Based on the Integration of Six Elements

The FA1000 integrates six functions—OTDR, stable light source, optical power meter, red light source, network cable testing, and data storage—a decision based on the breakdown of the installation and maintenance workflow.

From start to finish, installation and maintenance engineers only need these five testing functions (data storage is secondary). Single-function devices mean carrying multiple instruments, which means being heavy, disorganized, and slow. The modulation modes of the stable light source (CW/270Hz/1kHz/2kHz) and the frequency identification of the optical power meter (CW/270Hz/330Hz/1kHz/2kHz) are designed in tandem—the modulation signal filters out ambient light interference and improves the accuracy of loss measurement. The 1310/1550nm dual wavelengths of the OTDR and the 650nm visible light of the red light source cover the entire process from connectivity checks to fine loss analysis. The synergy between these functions was planned during the product design phase, not pieced together later.

VII. From Tool Vendor to Solution Provider

The expansion of the product portfolio is essentially Nanjing VAEYI Technology's transformation from a "tool supplier" to an "installation and maintenance solutions provider".

Tool vendors sell single-point products—if you need fiber strippers, I sell fiber strippers; if you need OTDRs, I sell OTDRs. Solution providers sell complete capabilities—covering the entire chain of equipment and tools, from fiber stripping to testing to acceptance.
